3SI-Control project team holds clinical trial coordination meeting in Tanzania

Researchers from the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), the University of Zambia (UNZA), ISGlobal and Ghent University met in Mbeya, Tanzania, from 4 to 7 May 2026 to advance preparations for the clinical trial under the 3SI-CONTROL project. The meeting focused on key operational aspects of the study, including data management, pharmacovigilance, logistics and coordination among partners ahead of the trial launch scheduled for October 2026.

During the meeting, the consortium discussed the use of the REDCap platform for secure data collection and management, with ISGlobal and UDSM leading coordination efforts to ensure that all systems are fully operational before the start of the trial. Partners also reviewed the project timeline, milestones and deliverables, while aligning publication plans for PhD students involved in the project to avoid overlap and strengthen scientific collaboration.

The team also visited the university laboratory facilities and drug storage units designated for the project, confirming the availability of backup systems to guarantee medicine stability and safety. In addition, discussions addressed pharmacovigilance procedures and the logistics of field visits during the clinical trial, including coordination with health centres and local communities.
