Expert Teams Advancing Health Together
The members of the 3SI-CONTROL consortium have an established and extensive record of collaborative research and building successful North-South-South partnerships.
The consortium is composed of 4 African and 2 European universities and research institutes, whereby expertise and experience on the different topics is combined, covering drug safety assessments, cost-effectiveness studies, implementation studies including stakeholder engagement, One Health, modelling, communication, and dissemination.

Institutions collaborating to drive research forward
UGent Ghent University is a public university in Belgium with a high-standing reputation for collaborating on international collaborative projects. The university is one of the fastest growing European universities in terms of research capacity and productivity. UGent is the project manager and coordinator, and leader of the communication and dissemination work package.
UNZA is a public university located in Lusaka, Zambia. It is Zambia’s largest and oldest learning institution. UNZA is the leader of the effectiveness monitoring on Taenia solium, STH and SCH prevalence. They are also heavily involved in the cluster-randomized trial and the development of an implementation strategy, and partly in capacity building, communication and project management.
SUA is a public institution involved in teaching, research, consultancy and outreach in various disciplines. The university has been in the frontline to promote one-health research. SUA leads capacity building and makes considerable contributions to communication and dissemination, health economics and project management.
The Barcelona Institute for Global Health in Spain has greatly contributed to the translation of health research into public health policy, especially in the fields of NTDs. ISGlobal provides its experience in pharmacokinetics and pharmacovigilance to support and leads the economic work package.
UDSM is the oldest University in Tanzania, established in 1961. Their College of Health and Allied Sciences heads the cluster-randomized trial and scientific project leadership, and takes up sponsorship for the clinical trial. UDSM will also assist in data collection for the other work packages in the framework of the trial and contribute to capacity building, communication and dissemination and project management.
CISM, managed by The Manhiça Foundation, a private non-profit foundation, is a consolidated research center, highly specialized and with a strong capacity for research on transmissible diseases prevalent in Mozambique, with particular focus on the main causes of morbidity andmortality in the country (malaria, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and bacterial diseases).
